Add tax to a net price or strip it from a gross one.
Gross price
1,150
tax 150 at 15%
What do these numbers mean?
- Net excludes tax, gross includes it, and tax is the difference. To remove included tax, divide gross by (1 + rate/100), rather than subtracting that percentage from gross.
- In decimal numbers, commas separate thousands and a dot separates decimals: 1,234.5 = 1234 + 0.5. ×10^3 means multiply by 1000; ×10^-3 means divide by 1000. Display rounding can make tiny differences between shown totals.
| Net | 1,000 |
| Tax | 150 |
| Gross | 1,150 |
How this is worked out
- Tax: 1,000 × 15% = 150.
- Gross: 1,000 + 150 = 1,150.
Rounding follows the exact figure, not invoice rounding rules.
